 thank you, sabine!
i did 9600x5400 render and usual artifacts came out :( - sort of distinguishable color strips in background...
do you think it is my fault somewhere or should i finally try mbulber instead of mb3d?

Ahh yes, the inevitable banding :( I have no idea if Mandelbulber has a lot of possibilities that could help... In Fragmentarium I can lower it with "dithering"...
Maybe you can ask batjorge, he is working with Mandelbulber some more lately :)
And always a great pleasure, Petr! :)

MB3D uses only 8bit for the depth, so no matter what you do, it always will be banding :crying:
I use a trick that consists in using the same colour in the two depth fields. Not so nice maybe but with some practice it looks well.
In Mandelbulber you can save the image as a .png 16bit, so you don't have to worry on ugly banding there :D

Thank you, Jorge! I really hope that some day there will be a Mandelbulb3D clone that can do it all;) (including the 16-bit png export! ;))
As for now, Mandelbulber wants to kill my computer every 5 minutes

Most welcome Sabine, let's hope we can see it in the future :dummy:
Lol, it is very strange. It generally behaves good on Linux and W10  Maybe you are missing some QT5 libraries or something, dunno.
It is getting a cool program and its worth to take a look on it. As I'm writing this, I'm re-rendering some JosKleinians. Hope I can make work OpenCL because I confess MBer to render in good quality is some kind of CPU killer (4hrs for a 2K image :noes:) :D

Ohh but can't you let it render on gpu? It is also OpenGL... Of course, not that much detail on gpu, but maybe quicker? Here the program (newest version) just dies on me when I click Render  or do something equally simple... I have all qt stuff on my computer, but have had problems with MBulber always, also on previous computer and computer before that :} I just think it is not for me ;)

There is an alpha version github.com/buddhi1980/mandelbu… but I'm unable to make it work neither in Linux or Windows.
Will wait until is stable or change GPU.
Maybe an fractal exorcist may help with you issue Sabine. Very strange.
But I tried the latest version of Frag on windows and was amazed on how fast it rendered, so it may use OpenCL on win

Like the way you direct the eye with foreground blur and background depth fog. :)
